New Patient Comprehensive Exam

Your first visit with one of our dentists will be a New Patient Comprehensive Exam.  At this appointment the dentist will have an opportunity to discuss your treatment concerns and goals and complete a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health.  This will include the following:

• Updating any pertinent radiographs (Xrays)

• Muscle and TMJ Evaluation

• Oral Cancer screening

• Periodontal Evaluation (This is a thorough evaluation of your gingival health and is how we communicate with our hygiene team what form of periodontal treatment is appropriate for you)

• Charting of the existing restorations and dentition.  

With this information you and your dentist can formulate a plan to help you achieve your goals and maintain optimal oral health.  At this appointment you will make your initial hygiene appointment as well as any restorative treatment that you choose to pursue.  This appointment is usually about an hour in length.
